Raising Eden
Regenerate Paradise and Save the World
In the Beginning…

Although I strongly believe that the time is long overdue to consider everyone that lives on this Earth and the Earth itself as our most valuable asset…
Before I decided to Save the World I started out on a quest to grow our own food and change the way we eat, live and think for one very selfish reason. To Save my Child. To save one Julien Park Irwin who was struggling to grow, thrive, eat, poop…the most basic of human functions. There is no scarier place to be as a parent than not sure what to put in your child’s mouth. If you’ve never thought of what that might be like, think about it. To have to fear every single thing. Every single option. Even breast milk. Even elemental formula. Even rice or banana or lettuce…Every. Single. Food. To literally be unsure how your child could source calories from this world. But thanks firstly to IBCLC and leaky gut genius Jennifer Tow and later many others who helped us find the way, we figured out how to make my breast milk safe.
But immediately then, as the first wave of crisis passed, the question was how I would raise this 6 month old baby to be able to eat something other than my breast-milk-of-five-foods. And it was a big question. Of course immediately the task was to heal our leaky guts….
But that was the moment that I decided to Raise Eden. That I decided that I couldn’t count on the food of this world to grow my children. That I envisioned a Forest full of clean food. That I remembered what was described in the Bible but also somewhere in my genes, genetic memory made real in my vision of the future…The Garden of Eden. That once there was a place where eating was effortless. Simple. Clean. Delicious. Where humans, animals and plants grew in a dynamic harmony.
At that moment with my 6 month old, his face clear and shining, not bleeding, not itchy, him not hurting and crying and refluxing for the first time in his life… I decided that I could do this. I could keep this special child in a state of health out of sheer will and hard work and dedication to this goal.
Furthermore he deserved it. We all did. We all do. Our children did not toxify this world. They did not destroy our soil. They did not genetically modify our food. They did not exterminate over a third of the life outside and inside our guts.
They are innocent children who deserve health. All children. All people. Of all circumstances. Everyone deserves easy access to clean affordable food.
And that’s not the world we live in yet. I don’t want to hand this damaged world to the next generation. I don’t want to give these kids our problems and no resources to fix them. We need to fix this. We need to Save the World.
As my kids grow it’s a race against time. Every moment weighs on me. Stories of other canary kids pour in at me from every side, at every moment. People already suffering so much.
I don’t try to save the world out of some kind of egotism or sense of grandeur. I don’t feel any other choice. There is no other priority. There is nothing else.
I know people are like snowflakes. Only I can do the job I was assigned here. It’s different than your job because I am different than you.
But every particle of my being believes that if you are on this Earth in 2017 you are here to Save the World, same as me. Find your own way. Save your own World. Start with your own kids or self or loved ones. Start with your own yard. Start with your own food. Start with your own town government.
But BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. BELIEVE in one person’s ability to make real change in this world. Every single one of us has a big job ahead of us in the years to come. We can do this, fellow humans.
