Someone sent me an email today asking how I decide which guitar to use for each lesson. I thought it might be worth posting the answer here too. mother of the groom or bride wears in vintage style

I like all the guitars I use so my system is just my own idiosyncratic one.

I use the Rainsong Black Ice for open tuning songs because it's made of carbon fibre and doesn't mind the change in tension.

I use the Taylor for James Taylor and most other general fingerpicking songs because it has a very precise, clear sound for fingerpicking.

I use the Gibson J-45 for Ralph McTell, Donovan and most of The Beatles because that's the guitar they used.

But sometimes I'll just use a guitar because I fancy playing it that day :)
